Making business choices that are good for the environment!

We all have a role to play with making decisions that are environmentally sound. I have my kiln completely run by rooftop solar panels and wind energy for the extra. I use minimal water in my studio and recycle both the water and clays I use. I make goods that last. I also financially contribute to Greenpeace on a monthly basis and enjoy getting regular updates of their progress.

For 50 years, Greenpeace has protected our natural home by:

  • Taking down the fossil fuel industry to help fight climate change

  • Transitioning Australia to safe and clean renewable energy

  • Safeguarding our oceans and protecting our forests

  • Defending democracy through non-violent direct action

Another choice I make is to pay to have my soft plastics taken away on a commercial level as the clay bags really do stack up. Recyclesmart are an excellent recycling service that collect from your front door. They are innovative and inspiring - here is an example of an iniative they have running for the month of March -

In collaboration with Groomed to Go, we are holding an Empower Hour Clothing Drive in from 1st of March until the 31st of March.

Groomed to Go's primary focus is on people who are job-seeking or have recently gained employment and need appropriate clothing. As well as people who have recently been released from prison and need clothing and accessories to help make their fresh start a positive experienceIf you have clothes, shoes, or accessories in great condition you would like to donate to Dress for Success, please:

  • Label the bag GROOMED TO GO

  • Keep separate from other items

Continueing on this theme, we also have a street led project of collaborating with other houses to recycle our soft plastic from going to landfill. We alternate on a monthly basis and it costs about $20 per year when shared amongest 12 houses. So easy! See Recycle smart for more details https://www.recyclesmart.com/
