Open Studio Event - part of The Australian Ceramics nation wide event 2025

Okay…so I cannot avoid saying this. After a huge amount of preparation to get the garden, studio and ceramic work up to a standard I was happy with, we were hit with possibly the worst weather for this weekend. We didn’t have wind, that would have been a game changer, but we had serious rain and it was clocked as the coldest day in November in 30 years. I am absolutely a glass half full girl, but this did take the wind out of my sails a bit. It was 40 degrees last year so I now feel that anything could happen for the next one. It is absolutely worth the effort to create a place where people can come and see why and how the ceramic works are made. What influences the decisions that happen along the way - the experience of sharing the making to the end product is a story people can take away and creates value and context for them, each time they use the ceramics they have bought. It’s a very unique human experience to share with people. I had brilliant helpers who I couldn’t do this without, we had a surprise formal matcha tea ceremony in my kitchen with a visiting Japanese professor, we had neighbours drop off platters of food, we had so many brave people that visited and I cannot thank them enough. This is a very important event for kickstarting into the festive season for me, so you guys kicked me straight into the last quarter with a big drop punt!
