Unearthed Topography Platter - Gold edge
These platters are uniquely Australian and reflect the landlines and forests of the Australian landscape from an aerial perspective. The gentle undulating forms are each individually hand carved - Katrina responding to the clay body and working with the surface, rather than imposing on it. The edge is finished with a soft, painterly stroke of gold lustre requiring a third firing process. This creates a delicate interest to compliment the hand carvings. The glazing on the grainy clay is Ash and surface iron specks will show through this at random times.
Each piece is individually made and size and markings may vary slightly which is of course the beauty of a functional artwork like this.
