Meeting of the Waters is the Yorta Yorta name for the township of Echuca, a place defined by the meeting of the Murray, Campaspe and Goulburn Rivers. This handcrafted platter honours the connection between waterways, land and the stories held within the Australian landscape.
Wheel-thrown from Australian mid-fired clay and finished with Unearthed’s signature Ash glaze, the surface depicts flowing river lines winding through the land. Carved areas represent the red gum forests that remain after generations of landscape change, while a delicate gold lustre line traces these edges, requiring a third kiln firing to complete.
A celebration of place, memory and the enduring relationship between landscape and craft, this platter transforms the language of maps and waterways into a tactile ceramic artwork.
This design can also be created to reflect other meaningful landscapes. If you have a place that holds special significance for you or your loved ones, Katrina welcomes the opportunity to discuss a custom piece.
Made to order. Please allow approximately four weeks for Katrina to create your piece.
Handmade in Naarm/Melbourne from Australian clay and finished in studio-made glazes.
